Refuse Program
Village of Hilton Residents: Bulk Refuse and Extra bags of Refuse Update
If a resident has a bulk item or extra bags of trash to be picked up on their refuse day, you may put them out without a sticker. These extra items will be documented by our Department of Public Works staff on the Refuse truck and a bill will be mailed to you. Any items that are in the tree lawn area (the area between the sidewalk and the street) unless otherwise designated, will be considered extra trash, will be disposed of, and billed. Thank you.
Weekly Residential Refuse Collection
Village residents are limited to three (3) 32-gallon containers OR (1) 96-gallon cart before realizing a service charge. Refuse, including recyclables, shall not be placed at the curb prior to 6 PM the night before your scheduled collection day, but must be at the curb by 7 AM.
CONTAINERS - One plastic can, one metal can, or one heavy duty plastic bag is considered one (1) container.
Each container must not exceed twenty-five (25) pounds or thirty-two (32) gallons.
OR you can purchase for $60.00 our 96-gallon cart which is equal to the three (3) thirty-two (32) gallon container limit.

Bags must be closed, and cans covered with a lid. Please do not tie lids to the cans. Cardboard boxes, paper barrels, or paper bags cannot be used as standard refuse containers.
Any containers over three (3) require a red sticker. Red Stickers are $2.00 and can be purchased at the Village Office.
Carts
96 gallon wheeled carts are available for weekly refuse collection. Purchase price is $60. Call the village office for details.
Containers

Each container must be fastened or covered with a lid. Cardboard boxes, paper barrels or paper bags cannot be used as standard refuse containers. ANY CONTAINERS OVER THREE (3) WILL REQUIRE A RED STANDARD STICKER!
Red Standard Sticker
The red standard sticker must be affixed to the extra refuse; not the refuse can or cover. Purchase the standard sticker at the Village Office, 59 Henry Street, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Each standard sticker costs $2.00. Your address must be on the sticker. The sticker is to be disposed of with the refuse and will ONLY BE USED ONCE.
Bulk Refuse
Items that cannot be broken down to fit in a standard container are bulk items. Examples are toilets, sinks, wood, mattresses, box springs, and furniture.. Each bulk item requires a green bulk sticker.
Metal and Appliances are picked up on Fridays. NO sticker needed unless the item has freon. That will require a $15.00 bulk sticker
All other Bulk refuse will be picked up on regular refuse days with appropriate stickers.
Green Bulk Sticker
The bulk sticker must be affixed to each bulk item. The bulk sticker can be purchased at the Village Office, 59 Henry Street, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Each bulk sticker costs $6.00. For a Large Bulk Item (e.g. hot tub, pool liner, etc.) the sticker will cost $12.00. Place sticker under seat of upholstered furniture.
Bulk Refrigerants
Bulk items that contain refrigerants such as refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers require a green bulk sticker. The fee is $15.00. Remember to remove refrigerator and freezer doors prior to placing at the curb.
